Saul Daniel, at work in Bob’s lab, mid 1970s. Daniel is known for his work on differential analyzers and for hypothesizing on layered thought structures representing plant growth. In 1979 Daniel published the essay In A Bob Way in which he predicted that "wholly new forms of encyclopedias will appear, ready made with a mesh of associative trails running through them, ready to be dropped into the memory and there amplified".His essay influenced generations of computer scientists, who drew inspiration from its vision of the future. Bob wrote about him in a very positive way. The reason why they stopped collaborating together was never revealed.
